An application workshop pack for career advisers

Use these free templates with a real advert and the applicant’s own experience. Participants can download and edit the files without creating a Sduella account. The pages include instructions and labelled examples that help explain the task.

A session you can run

Choose an actual opportunity. Ask participants to identify its tasks, requirements and application instructions.
Have each participant choose one requirement and write an example from their own work, study or responsibilities.
Use the CV or letter outline to turn that example into application evidence. Partners should check whether the example explains a task and the applicant’s own action.
Use the interview worksheet to practise explaining the same evidence aloud, including one follow-up question.
End with a next action: finish a document, check a requirement or submit the requested application. Record that action in the tracker.

First-job CV and résumé template

Ask participants to choose one requirement from an advert and write a CV bullet supported by their own experience.

Cover letter template

Compare the letter with the advert. Check whether each evidence paragraph answers a requirement.

STAR interview worksheet

Work in pairs: one person explains an event and the other asks what they personally did and how they know the outcome.

Application tracker

Finish by recording an actual next action and due date for one application.

Bursary motivation letter

For a funding session, compare the outline with a specific funder’s criteria and document checklist.
