Learnership application email template
Applicants responding to a learnership advert that specifically accepts applications by email.
Sduella ·
An application email should make it easy to identify the programme and find the requested documents. It usually needs a clear subject, the correct reference, a brief introduction and an attachment list. The email is not a substitute for a provider's application form.
Use this outline when the advert asks you to email an application. If it gives a portal or a form, complete that process instead. A CV attachment alone does not complete a form-based application.
What is in the template
Replace the square-bracket prompts with your own information and remove sections you do not need.
Subject: Application for [learnership title] — [reference] — [your name] Dear [recruitment team or named recipient], I am applying for the [programme title], reference [reference], advertised on [source]. I have completed [the relevant qualification] and am based in [town or area, if relevant to the advert]. I am interested in this programme because [one specific reason connected to the work or training]. My [project, volunteer task or other relevant experience] helped me develop [a skill the advert asks for]. As requested, I have attached: • [Document 1] • [Document 2] • [Document 3] Please contact me on [phone] or [email] if you need further information. Kind regards, [Your name]
Use the advert as the attachment list
Read the application instructions before attaching files. Copy the programme title, reference and recipient exactly. Check whether it asks for a CV, a particular certificate, a completed form or other documents. Attach the requested version of each document rather than a collection of unrelated files.
Keep the introduction short and accurate
State the qualification or experience relevant to the requirement. If the advert gives a location condition, explain your actual situation. A useful reason for applying names the work or training involved and connects it to something you have done or want to learn.
Do not describe a learnership as a guaranteed permanent job. Read the particular programme's description and prepare questions about the training, workplace component and any stated conditions.
Send a complete application
- Use clear filenames such as YourName_CV.pdf and the format the advert requests.
- Open each attachment before sending it.
- Check the recipient, subject and deadline against the original advert.
- Save the sent email and record the programme in your application tracker.
Final check
- The advert actually accepts email applications.
- The subject contains the programme and reference.
- All requested attachments are included and readable.
- You have kept a copy of what you submitted.
